CANDLE CARE

Do not burn your candle for more than 4 hours at a time – If your candle burns for too long, carbon can collect on the wick & make it unstable. This can lead to a dangerously large flame, smoke & soot production. Your vessel is also at risk of becoming too hot, which can cause damage to wherever you are burning your candle.

Never leave a burning candle unattended – The heat of a candle flame will create a pool of hot wax, which does have the potential to catch fire which is why you should always extinguish the candle before leaving the room.

Keep your candle out of reach from children & pets – Candles can easily be knocked over and cause house fires, burns & injuries. Keep your candle out of reach from your furry friends & children. It only takes a few seconds for curious fingers (or paws) to cause some serious damage.

When not in use, ensure your lid is on your candle – Keeping your lid on your candle will help keep dust & debris out. It will also preserve the lifespan of your scented candle by preventing the fragrance from escaping.

Keep your candle on a flat, fire-resistant surface – Keeping your candle on a flat, fire resistant surface will assist in creating an even burn for your candle, as well as preventing house fires.

Store your candles in a cool dry place – To prevent your candles from fading, cracking and melting, store your candles in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, dust & florescent light.

Keep your candle away from flammable materials, direct sunlight, fluorescent light & open windows/drafts – Keeping your candles away from open windows, drafts, vent, ceiling fans and air current will help prevent rapid, uneven burning and avoid flame flare-ups & sooting. Drafts can also blow nearby lightweight items into the flame which could potentially start a fire. Direct sunlight and other heat sources may discolour your candle & it affect the scent.

Trim your wick before every use – Trimming the wick of your candles makes for a much cleaner burn. Untrimmed wicks are a major contributor to that unsightly black residue, as the candle will produce unnecessary smoke. With less wick to burn through, your candle can focus on using the heat to pool the wax properly and release that beautiful fragrance.

Ensure your melt pool spreads to the edges of your vessel, especially for your first burn – The first burn is the most important, the candle wax must pool to the edge of the initial burn. Wax has memory, meaning that if your candle doesn’t burn to the edges, it will begin to tunnel & won’t burn evenly, reducing the lifespan of your candle.
